세계 최대의 가상자산 거래소인 바이낸스의 BNB체인(BNB)은 네트워크 업그레이드를 위해 ‘플라톤(plato) 하드포크’를 진행했다고 10일(현지시간) 외신에서 전해졌다.
해당 보도에 따르면, 이날 BNB체인 네트워크는 블록 높이가 3072만 4096에 이르면서 플라톤 업그레이드가 이루어졌다. 플라톤은 BNB체인에서 BEP-126 제안을 도입한 업그레이드로, 블록을 되돌릴 수 있는 기능을 배제하여 빠른 완결성 매커니즘을 구현한다. BNB체인의 수석 솔루션 설계자인 아르노 바우어는 “빠른 완결성 매커니즘이 구현되면 사용자들은 즉시 완결된 블록에 저장된 정확한 정보를 확인할 수 있다”며 “BEP-126은 블록체인의 보안성과 효율성을 향상시킨다”고 설명했다.
BNB체인은 또한 다가오는 30일에 두 번째 업그레이드로 ‘헤르츠(Hertz) 하드포크’를 진행할 예정이다. 이 업그레이드는 최신 버전의 이더리움 가상 머신(EVM)과의 호환성을 맞추기 위한 것으로, 바우어 수석 솔루션 설계자는 “BNB체인 블록과 트랜잭션 구조, EVM을 업데이트하여 이더리움(ETH)의 최근 베를린·런던 업그레이드에 부합하도록 할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

Plato is an upgrade that introduces the BEP-126 proposal in the BNB chain, which implements a fast completeness mechanism by excluding the ability to reverse blocks. Arno Bauer, chief solution designer of BNB Chain, said, “When a fast completeness mechanism is implemented, users can immediately check the exact information stored in the completed block,” adding, “BEP-126 improves the security and efficiency of the blockchain.”
BNB Chain will also host a “Hertz Hard Fork” as its second upgrade on the 30th. The upgrade is intended to be compatible with the latest version of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), and Bauer, chief solution architect, said, “We will update the BNB chain block, transaction structure, and EVM to meet Ethereum’s recent Berlin-London upgrade.”
