하와이 화재 경제적 타격, 무디스 추산 60억달러

지난 4일부터 13일까지 하와이 마우이섬을 강타한 산불로 인한 경제적 피해가, 글로벌 재해위험 모델링-솔루션 기업인 무디스RMS의 추산에 따르면 약 60억달러(약 8조 190억원)에 이를 것으로 예상됩니다.
22일(현지시간) CNN비즈니스에 따르면 무디스RMS는 이번 산불로 인한 피해가 40억달러에서 최대 60억달러로 추정되며, 지역의 보험 가입률이 높아 75% 정도가 보상을 받을 것으로 예상된다고 보도했습니다.
무디스RMS는 이번 산불로 인해 주거, 상업, 산업 분야뿐만 아니라 자동차와 인프라 자산 등 포함하여 피해가 광범위하게 발생했으며, 공급망과 지역의 높은 건설 노동비용 때문에 피해 규모가 컸다고 밝혔습니다.
라이키란 보이잘라, 무디스RMS 모델링 부사장은 복구 기간 동안 예상되는 인플레이션과 법령 조항 등이 복구 비용을 더욱 증가시킬 것으로 설명했습니다.
무디스는 화재 피해 추산을 위해 하와이 재해관리 당국이 제공한 지도, 위성 및 항공에서 촬영한 사진을 분석한 결과를 사용했습니다.
무디스에 따르면 이번 산불로 인한 피해는 주로 마우이섬의 라하이나 지역에 집중되었으며, 보험에 가입된 재산 가치는 25억달러에서 40억달러(약 5조 3500억원) 사이로 추산되었습니다.
하지만 이 피해 집계에는 섬의 GDP가 포함되지 않았습니다.
글로벌 보험 데이터 분석 업체 베리스크에 따르면 하와이의 건설비용은 미국 본토에 비해 44% 비싸다고 합니다. 따라서 재건 비용이 상당히 많이 들 것으로 예상됩니다.
현재까지 이번 화재로 인해 최소 114명이 사망하고 1000명 이상이 실종된 것으로 알려져 있습니다.

Moody’s RMS says the wildfires have caused widespread damage, including in residential, commercial and industrial sectors, as well as automotive and infrastructure assets, with high construction labor costs in supply chains and regions.
Raikiran Boyzala, Moody’s vice president of RMS modeling, explained that inflation and statutory provisions expected during the recovery period would further increase recovery costs.
Moody’s used the results of an analysis of maps, satellites and aerial photographs provided by the Hawaii Disaster Management Authority to estimate fire damage.
According to Moody’s, the damage from the wildfires was mainly concentrated in the Lahaina area of Maui Island, with insured property values estimated at between $2.5 billion and $4 billion (about 5.35 trillion won).
However, this damage count did not include the island’s GDP.
Construction costs in Hawaii are 44% higher than in the U.S. mainland, according to global insurance data analyst Berisk. Therefore, reconstruction costs are expected to be significantly higher.
So far, at least 114 people have been killed and more than 1,000 are reported missing.
