‘서현역 흉기난동’ 사건, 사이코패스 검사 ‘측정불가’

14명의 사상자를 낸 ‘분당 서현역 흉기난동’ 사건의 피의자 최원종(22)에 대한 사이코패스 진단검사(PCL-R) 결과가 ‘평가 불가’로 확인되었습니다.
경기남부경찰청 과학수사과에 따르면, 최원종은 살인 혐의로 구속송치되어 사이코패스 진단검사를 받았으나, 결과는 “평가 대상에 적합하지 않아 사이코패스 성향 여부를 논단할 수 없다”고 밝혔습니다.
최원종은 이미 분열성 성격장애로 진단받은 상태로, 수사과정에서 ‘피해망상’이 확인된 바 있습니다. 이에 따라 사이코패스 진단기준에 미치지 못하는 평가를 받은 것으로 파악됐습니다.
경찰 관계자는 “사이코패스 성향을 가진 사람은 범죄를 저지르는데 아무런 감정이 없는 인물로, 최원종의 경우 피해망상과 정신적인 질환에 의한 것으로 보여 ‘측정 불가’로 판단된 것”이라고 설명했습니다.
최원종은 지난 3일 분당구 서현동 AK플라자 백화점 앞에서 차를 몰고 시민들을 덮치고 흉기로 공격한 혐의를 받고 있습니다. 이로 인해 1명이 사망하고 13명이 부상을 입은 상태입니다.
경찰은 최원종을 살인, 살인예비 등 혐의로 수원지검 성남지청에 구속송치하였으며, 해당 사건과 관련한 수사가 계속 진행 중입니다.

According to the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency’s scientific investigation department, Choi Won-jong was arrested and sent for murder and underwent a psychopath diagnostic test, but the results were “not suitable for evaluation, so it is impossible to determine whether he is psychopathic.”
Choi Won-jong has already been diagnosed with a divisive personality disorder, and “delusion of victimhood” has been confirmed during the investigation. Accordingly, it was found that the evaluation did not meet the psychopath diagnostic criteria.
A police official explained, “A person with a psychopath tendency is a person who has no feelings for committing a crime, and in the case of Choi Won-jong, it was judged to be ‘unmeasurable’ because it seemed to be caused by paranoid and mental illness.”
Choi Won-jong is accused of driving in front of AK Plaza Department Store in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, on the 3rd and attacking citizens with a weapon. As a result, one person was killed and 13 others were injured.
The police detained and sent Choi Won-jong to the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office on charges of murder and murder preparation, and an investigation into the case is ongoing.
