베트남 전기차 빈패스트, 미국증시 GM 추월
Vietnam’s electric vehicle Vinfast overtakes GM on U.S. stock market
베트남 전기차 업체 빈패스트가 15일(현지시간 기준) 미국 나스닥 거래소에 성공적으로 상장되었습니다.
빈패스트의 첫 날 주가 상승으로 인해 시가총액이 디트로이트의 주요 자동차 회사인 제너럴모터스(GM), 포드자동차 등을 앞질렀습니다.
외신에 따르면 빈패스트는 뉴욕증시에 상장된 특수목적합병법인(SPAC)인 블랙스페이드애퀴지션과 합병하여 뉴욕증시에 데뷔했습니다.
빈패스트는 블랙스페이드와의 합병이 마무리된 첫 거래일인 16일에 254%의 폭등을 기록했습니다. 블랙스페이드 주가는 전일에 10.45달러로 마감되었습니다.
블랙스페이드의 전일 마감가를 기준으로 계산하면, 주가 상승률은 254%에 달합니다. 이로 인해 빈패스트의 시가총액은 첫 거래일에 860억달러(약 115조원)를 넘어섰습니다.
지난 6월에 제출된 합병서류에 따르면, 블랙스페이드는 빈패스트의 기업가치를 230억달러로 평가한 바 있습니다. 그 후 기업가치는 더 높아졌습니다.
16일 마감가를 기준으로 빈패스트의 시가총액은 860억달러를 넘었습니다. 이는 포드의 480억달러와 GM의 485억달러의 시총을 웃도는 수준입니다.
리비안(197억달러), 루시드(146억달러) 등 미국의 다른 전기차 스타트업들의 시가총액을 합친 것보다도 높은 수치입니다. 또한 독일의 BMW, 폭스바겐, 메르세데스벤츠 등도 빈패스트의 시가총액에 미치지 못합니다.
이는 베트남 전기차 업체에 대한 투자자들의 큰 기대를 나타내는 결과입니다.
빈패스트는 2017년에 베트남 대기업 빈그룹의 자동차 부문으로 설립되었습니다. 중국의 전기차 업체들이 중국 시장에서만 활동하거나 최근에 유럽 시장으로 진출하고 있는 반면, 빈패스트는 이미 미국과 캐나다 등 북미 시장에 진출한 상태입니다.
빈패스트는 베트남에서 전기차를 생산하고 미국에는 약 2100대, 캐나다에는 800대 정도를 수출하였습니다. 또한, 미국에서는 빈패스트의 전기차가 테슬라의 제품보다 저렴한 가격으로 판매되고 있습니다.
빈패스트는 현재 북미에 조립공장을 건설 중이며, 이 공장은 1단계로 연간 15만대의 생산 능력을 갖출 예정입니다. 이 공장은 노스캐롤라이나주에 위치하며, 처음에는 내년에 가동될 예정이었으나 2025년으로 계획이 미뤄졌습니다.
이날 빈패스트의 주가는 시초가 22달러에 비해 15.06달러(68.45%) 상승한 37.06달러로 첫 거래를 마쳤습니다.

Beanfast’s first-day stock price hike has outperformed Detroit’s major automakers General Motors and Ford Motor Co.
According to foreign media, VinFast made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange by merging with Black Spade Acquisition, a special purpose merger corporation (SPAC) listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Beanfast posted a 254% surge on the 16th, the first trading day the merger with BlackSpade was finalized. Black Spade shares closed at $10.45 the day before.
Based on Blackspade’s previous closing price, the stock price increase is 254%. As a result, VinFast’s market capitalization exceeded $86 billion (about KRW 115 trillion) on the first trading day.
BlackSpade valued VinFast at $23 billion, according to a merger document filed in June. The value of the enterprise has since increased.
As of the closing price on the 16th, VinFast’s market capitalization exceeded $86 billion. This is above Ford’s $48 billion and GM’s $48.5 billion in market capitalization.
That’s higher than the combined market capitalization of other electric vehicle startups in the United States, including Rivian ($19.7 billion) and Lucid ($14.6 billion). Also, Germany’s BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, etc. fall short of VinFast’s market cap.
This is a result of high investor expectations for the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker.
Vinfast was established in 2017 as the automotive division of Vietnamese conglomerate bin group. While Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers are operating only in the Chinese market or have recently entered the European market, VinFast has already entered North American markets such as the United States and Canada.
Vinfast produced electric vehicles in Vietnam and exported about 2,100 to the United States and 800 to Canada. Also, in the United States, VinFast’s electric cars are sold at a lower price than Tesla’s.
Vinfast is currently building an assembly plant in North America, which will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 units in the first stage. The plant is located in North Carolina and was initially scheduled to start operations next year, but plans have been pushed back to 2025.
Shares of VinFast closed their first trading session at $37.06, up $15.06 (68.45%) from the start of the day at $22.
