미국, 소비 지출 탄력, 7월 일자리 18만7000개 증가
U.S. boosts consumer spending, up 187,000 jobs in July
미국 노동부는 지난 7월 비농업 부문에서 새로운 일자리가 18만7000개 증가했다고 4일(현지시간) 발표했습니다.
이 숫자는 로이터통신이 예측한 전문가들의 기대치인 20만개보다는 적지만, 전월(18만5000개) 대비로는 소폭 상승한 수치입니다.
7월 기간 동안 미국의 실업률은 3.5%로, 전월 대비 0.1%포인트 감소하여 역사적으로 낮은 수준을 기록하였습니다.
이러한 노동시장의 호조는 정책 입안자들에게 긍정적인 소식으로 전해졌습니다. 경기 침체를 초래하지 않으면서도 물가 상승을 조절할 수 있다는 희망이 대두되었습니다.

The U.S. Department of Labor announced on the 4th (local time) that the number of new jobs in the non-agricultural sector increased by 187,000 in July.
The number is less than the experts’ expectations of 200,000 predicted by Reuters, but it is a slight increase from the previous month (185,000).
During the July period, the U.S. unemployment rate was 3.5%, down 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, at a historically low level.
This strong labor market has been positive news for policymakers. Hopes have emerged that inflation can be controlled without causing an economic downturn.
Reuters reports that cooling the U.S. economy raises the possibility that the Federal Reserve will end its rate hike early.
Despite the rate hike, consumer spending remains solid, but a gradual cautious trend is being felt, Reuters noted.
It is analyzed that the continuation of consumer spending is partly due to wage increases, and the year-on-year wage growth rate as of July was 4.4%.
Reuters reports that economists, who had previously expected a recession, are now increasingly convinced of the possibility of a soft landing scenario implemented by the Federal Reserve.
